Saint Albert was the result of a commission to produce a work conveying lifelong learning and the millennium. Saint Albert the Great fit the theme perfectly. He was born 800 years before this sculpture’s creation and became famous for his legendary knowledge of all things. His bridging of scientific and metaphysical approaches to understanding seems very contemporary even though the onus of justification has reversed since his day. This 2/3 scale figure stands atop a time capsule built into the base.
