After school, I got a studio in the old Grain Exchange building across from the Palliser Hotel in Calgary. A couple of guys on the street asked for some money. I told them if they would sit for me I would give them some of the food I kept in the studio instead. Doug claimed to be the great grandson of Gabriel Dumont, the famed buffalo hunter of the Riel Rebellion.
